CITREX: research project at the PCC Exol and PCC MCAA industrial consortium

PCC EXOL SA and PCC MCAA Sp. z o. o. are implementing a project entitled:
A new generation of low- and medium-molecular-weight polymer surfactants based on bio carboxylic acids as ingredients in cosmetic compositions and specialized packaging.

The aim of the project is to implement a range of new polymeric surfactants with plasticizing properties, as well as acquire knowledge and experience in the application of these products.

The planned results of the project are as follows:

• Validation and optimization of the developed method of synthesizing a group of new polymeric surfactants,
• Assessment of the application parameters of the obtained products as surfactants and plasticizers for the cosmetics industry and for packaging for the food and medical industries;
• Increasing the scale of production to a pilot plant and then producing test batches of products and distributing samples to customers;
• Preparation of design assumptions for the process design for plants on an industrial scale; the Project will be implemented from September 2017 to August 2020.

Development of a synthesis technology and application evaluation of modern surfactant polymers used as specialized dispersing and wetting agents in the paint and varnish industry

The aim of the Project will be to develop a technology for the synthesis of new chemical structures and to acquire know-how in the field of the application of these substances which may potentially be useful in the key industry of coating materials.

The planned results of the project are as follows:

• Development of a synthesis technology for a new group of surfactant polymers (so-called polymeric surfactants) with better dispersing properties in paint and varnish formulations than the existing products available on global markets.
• Evaluation of application properties of the developed substances and their mixtures as ingredients of specialized coating materials, based on ecological raw materials, containing no volatile organic compounds.
• Verification of the developed technologies on an industrial scale.
